AP 2D ART Topic: Nostalgia
Inquiry Statement:
How can art reflect the fear of growing older and the sadness looking back at the years that have passed. My sustained investigation shows how art can express emotion and feelings that the viewers might feel when reminiscing on their childhood. Throughout each piece I have watched tutorials to learn new skills as well as researching different tools in photoshop as well as photography. I have learned how to draw on photoshop and use the quick selection tool, use paint brushes to make objects shiny and add texture to my pieces such as SI1. I used color overlays and texture to visually represent fading memories and emotional weight, reinforcing the feeling of nostalgia and loss. make my own stamp in SI3, and turn an image into a sticker in SI4. I also practiced experimentation and revision. In SI1 I practiced color overlay, I tried a pattern with squares in SI2 that took many revisions with positioning and sizing, SI3 I tried different size and color stamps until I was happy with the right ones as well as, different fonts and positioning of the text, SI4 took a lot of positioning practice, and SI5 was a challenge with new materials and color placement. I used both digital and physical materials to bring my ideas to life. In photoshop I utilized the pen, brush, transformation, layer, shape, font, stamp, color overlay, brightness, contrast, opacity, and more. Additionally I researched artists to gain inspiration and guidance. Each artist I picked used a specific element of art such as color wheel, unity, balance, texture, and more.
